Demands of the Right to Food Campaign
Public Distribution System - Coverage
Every person except income tax payees; households in non-scheduled areas who own more than 4 hectares of irrigated land or 8 hectares of non-irrigated land; households in urban areas that own a pucca house with carpet area more than 1,000 sq. ft. and are liable to pay property tax.
Universal coverage
Public Distribution System – Entitlements
Antyodaya households:

35 kg foodgrain at Re 1/kg
2 kg pulses at Re 10/kg (in non-scheduled areas)
2 kg chana at Rs 5/kg (in Scheduled areas)
2 kg iodised salt (free)
Priority households:

35 kg foodgrain at Rs 2/kg
2 kg pulses at Rs 10/kg (in non-scheduled areas)
2 kg chana at Rs 5/kg (in scheduled areas)
2 kg iodized salt (free)      
General households:

15 kg foodgrain at Rs 9.50/kg for rice and Rs 7.50/kg for wheat

As per ICMR norms:

-          Foodgrains:                             14 kg/adult/month or                    50 kg /household/month

-          Oil: 800 gm/adult/month or  2.8 kg/household/month

-          Pulses: 1.5 kg/adult/month or 5.25 kg/ household/ month

Entitlements for Children
Children aged 6 months to 3 years: Take home ration through Anganwadis, with 500 Kcal calories and 12-15 gm protein per meal
Children aged 3 years to 6 years: Morning snack and hot cooked meal, with 500 Kcal calories and 12-15 gm protein per day
Children in Lower Primary Classes: Hot cooked meal in school, with 450 Kcal calories and 12 gm protein per meal
Children in Upper Primary Classes: Hot cooked meal in school, with 700 Kcal calories and 20 gm protein
Children aged 6 months to 6 years who are malnourished: Take home ration through anganwadis, with 800 Kcal calories and 20-25 gram protein per meal
Children in hostels and ashrams: Subsidised grain at prescribed prices, prices not prescribed in the act but in subsequent guidelines or notifications

Universalisation of all ICDS services (in accordance with Supreme Court orders). Improvement in quality of ICDS services through improved norms for infrastructure, supplementary nutrition, training and capacity building, provision of second anganwadi worker etc.
Nutritious hot cooked locally prepared food for all children in the Midday Meals Scheme and ICDS.
Provision for management of all forms of malnutrition including additional supplements, healthcare and appropriate treatment. Crèches in the community and workplace, where ever required, including NREGA worksites, as an essential intervention to fight malnutrition.  
Entitlements for Pregnant and Lactating Women
Take home ration through anganwadis, with 600 Kcal and 18-20 gm protein per meal, during pregnancy and up to six months after childbirth

Nutritious take home rations (in accordance with Supreme Court orders).
Universal maternity entitlements for at least 6 months at no less than the minimum wage.

Community Kitchens
Free meals through “Dal Bhat” centres or take home rations through panchayats

Community kitchens which provide at least one affordable (free for persons in destitution) nutritious hot meal a day.

Emergency and Disasters
Meals, free of charge for up to 3 months, through emergency relief operations
Meals, free of charge for up to 6 months, through emergency relief operations
People living with hunger/in starvation conditions
Free meals for up to 6 months
At least two meals a day, greater quantities of subsidised foodgrains and assured wage employment
